Case Study: New York State Department of Health

The New York State Department of Health sought to instruct all health care providers in New York State to: (1) implement highly effective Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) to prevent HIV infection in persons with a recent high risk exposure; AND (2) instruct medical providers to diagnose and manage acute HIV infection (AHI), the first weeks of HIV disease when patients are highly infectious to others. Streamedtech created an enhanced widget and developed instructional content based on New York State HIV guidelines. Providers who download the PEP AIDS Widget can obtain up-to-date streaming text and video instruction on how to initiate, monitor and deliver PEP and diagnose and manage AHI. The AIDS PEP Widget can be emailed or downloaded to providers. Because the AIDS PEP Widget is located on a secure server that only Health Department staff can access the system is protected from security breaches.
